There are at least 10 different ways that surgeons can reconstruct a nipple on a reconstructed breast. However, with a patient-satisfaction rate of only 10% during the past decade, an acceptable standard of nipple reconstruction has yet to be established.
TauTona’s patented nipple reconstruction device is a series of soft silicone molds that gently pull and stretch the skin to gradually form a nipple from the surface of the reconstructed breast. Each mold in the series progressively pulls and stretches more and more tissue until the desired size is achieved, at which time an implant can be placed (or reapplied from time to time) to maintain size.
